Installation failure on Vista

May 8, 2009 at 4:28 PM

Hi,

The NetSqlAzMan installer for version 3.5.4.1 (and 3.5.1.0) fails on Vista Ultimate (tried it on more than one PC).

A message is displayed stating that the file 'c:\Windows\system32\ObjectPickerHelper2.dll' has failed to register.  The HRESULT returned is -2147010895 (0x800736B1).  The user is offered a chance to retry the operation (it fails again) or continue with the installation.  Choosing to continue completes the installation but the product does not work correctly.

A workaround is to manually register the offending dynamic link library with regsvr32.exe after the installation completes.

The HRESULT value implies that the registration attempt might be occurring before a dependency of the named file has been installed.

Hi David,
I have discovered a bug on the NetSqlAzMan Setup (this release only) while adapting the Setup for Windows 7.
I have fixed the bug in the 3.5.4.2 beta. (download and try if you want).
Regards,
Andrea.
