Installation error

Nov 25, 2009 at 9:06 AM

Hi Andrea,

I have a problem upgrading to the latest version from the version 3.6.0.2. I uninstalled the older version successfully but when I try to install the new one, I have an error message:

Error 1001. Excepción al initializar la instalación:
System.

That would be in english:

Error 1001. Exception initializing the installation:
System.BadImageFormatException: Can't load the file or assembly
'file:///C:\Archivos de programa\...\NetSqlAzMan.SnapIn.dll' or one of its
dependencies
. The module was expected to contain a manifest assembly.

I have windows XP and the framework 3.5 installed.
I can install the previous version again without any problem.

Thanks,

Cédric

PS: If you still need help with the spanish traduction (and french one too), I can help you.

Hi,

Some questions:

1) Do you have a Win XP 32 or 64 bit version ?

2) Have you installed the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 ?

3) Do you have installed the Win XP SP3 ?

Let me know

Regards,

Andrea.

Hi,

This is the first time I see  this error.

After a google search, I suggest you to download the NetSqlAzMan source code and compile it using:

1) Debug configuration (instead of Release)

2) X86 platform (instead of Any CPU).

Compile the NetSqlAzMan Setup .MSI and run it again.

Let me know.

Regards,

Andrea.

Hi,

I've tried to compile the source code but it doesn't work for me... I've got an error in the NameTranslator.cs file with this line of code: using ActiveDs = Interop.ActiveDs;
The error is: The type or namespace name 'Interop' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?).
This is very strange because the reference to Interop.ActiveDs is ok in the project.

I've got an other problem now. Yesterday, the project i was developing suddenly stop working, and the NetSqlAzMan console too. The error is:
System.BadImageFormatException: Can't load the file or assembly
'file:///C:\Archivos de programa\...\NetSqlAzMan.dll' or one of its
dependencies
. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.

I don't understand what's appening because I didn't made changes to NetSqlAzMan... and it was working perfectly...

Regards,

Cédric

Hi,

Given that I can't compile the whole solution, I tried to compile only the NetSqlAzMan project with Win32 Platform as you said and it works !
I set the reference to this new dll in my project and it works too !!!!!

The only problem I have now is that the NetSqlAzMan console doesn't work...

I need to make some more tests on a 64bits machine because the application will be host on a 64bits server but for the moment it seems to work.

Regards,

Cédric

Hi,

just delete the Interop.ActiveDS.dll reference and add a new one to the COM dll “c:\windows\system32\ActiveDS.dll”.

Regards,

Andrea.

Hi,

try to create a new one console.

- Start – Run – “mmc”

- Add a new Snap-in “.NET Sql Authorization Manager”

- Save the console as “c:\windows\system32\NetSqlAzMan.msc”

Regards,

Andrea.
